Militatry Vehicle Preservation Association, Coast to Coast National tour will drive through Downtown State Center on the Lincoln Highway Route.
On Monday, June 22, a convoy of historic military vehicles will be traveling along the original Lincoln Highway through State Center. The convoy, conducted by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the 1919 US Army’s Transcontinental Motor Convoy and the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, according to Harlan Quick, Marshall County Consul for the Lincoln Highway Association.
After an overnight stop in Cedar Rapids on Sunday night, June 21, the convoy will be making a lunch stop in Marshalltown at the Fairgrounds between 11:00 am and Noon on Monday, June 22, before moving on to Jefferson for its overnight stop. The convoy should be moving through State Center sometime after lunch on Monday, June 22. If you would like a close-up view of the restored military vehicles, they will be on display in both Cedar Rapids and Jefferson at the overnight stops.
